Lab Instruments Manufacturers manufactures the Manual Batch Distillation Pilot Plant in-house at our own India facility, supplying it to engineering colleges and chemical engineering labs, and as an OEM/private-label item to distributors and exporters across India and internationally.
What This Pilot Plant Does
This bench-scale plant lets students run a complete batch distillation cycle: a fixed charge is loaded into the 4-litre reboiler (fitted with a 1,600W electric heater controlled by a thyristor unit) and distilled up through a 600mm column with 7 bubble-cap trays, with reflux ratio set using 2 programmable timers. Vapour is condensed through a reflux head and AISI 304 stainless-steel tube-in-tube heat exchangers, with distillate collected in a 1-litre tank.
Instrumentation and Control
The plant is fitted with 6 thermocouples (with probes protected by stainless-steel shield sleeves) feeding 6 electronic temperature indicators, a stainless-steel variable-area flow meter (20 to 250 litres/hour, 4-20mA output), and a vacuum circuit with trap and vacuum gauge (−1 to 0 bar) for reduced-pressure operation. A PC interface built into the main electrical control panel runs Windows-based data-acquisition software, and an emergency stop button is fitted to the panel. Pipework and valves are stainless steel throughout.
Manual vs. Automated Operation
This is the manually operated version of our batch distillation range: reflux ratio and process parameters are set and monitored via the timers, thyristor unit, and PC data-logging software described above, without the solenoid- and pneumatically-actuated valves used in our Automated Batch Distillation Pilot Plant for closed-loop control. It suits labs that want students to operate and adjust the process themselves rather than observe a fully automated run.
Manufactured In-House
This plant is fabricated and assembled at our own India production facility using stainless-steel construction throughout. Manufacturing in-house means our team controls build quality and instrumentation calibration at every stage, and can configure the plant for a specific curriculum or export order without waiting on an outside supplier.
