What This Apparatus Does
This is a hydraulic flume with a 200 x 300mm cross-section and 6000mm length, fitted with transparent windows of 1800mm length on either side for direct observation of flow. Sliding gates at the upstream and downstream ends regulate the depth of flow, and a screw jack adjusts the bed slope to give positive or negative gradients. The system includes a sump tank, a supply tank with wave-damping arrangement, a 3 HP centrifugal monoblock pump, an orifice meter with manometer for discharge measurement (inlet/throat dimensions 50/25mm), and a trolley with point gauge for level measurement.
