What This Apparatus Does
This apparatus shows the difference in thermal expansion of various liquids over the same temperature range. It comprises 5 glass graduated capillary tubes of equal bore, each with a bulb at the bottom, mounted on a support frame with a metal trough for immersing the bulbs in hot water. Each tube is filled with a different liquid, so as the bulbs are heated together in the trough, students can directly compare how far the liquid column rises in each capillary tube. It is supplied complete with all accessories, including the glass elements.
